Sun Room’s Endless Summer Revives the Spirit of Surf Rock

Sun Room – composed of lead vocalist Luke Asigan, guitarist Ashton Minnich, and bassist Max Pinamonti – captures the sound of rebellious rockstars staying up too late, playing too loudly in their parents’ garage, and waking up just in time to catch the waves before the beach gets too crowded.

Originally appealing to a smaller audience, through the power of social media and a feature on the highly anticipated second season of Outer Banks, their listeners have started to rise. They jumped from playing house parties to arenas supporting Louis Tomlinson for the North and South American leg of his 2022 World Tour, opening for Inhaler for their 2022 Cuts and Bruises tour, and selling out venues all around the world on their very own headlining tour not too long after.
With influences like The Seeds, The Birds, and The Ventures, it's plain to see that they are not only paying tribute to the bands that shaped them, but sharing this older surf-rock sound with the world. While some artists in modern music try to steer away from the past, they do the opposite, embracing a time that, though they didn't live it, feels alive.
By blending modern rock with a groovy 60s-esque vibe, Sun Room captivates an audience of those looking to live a life unobstructed by the problems of everyday life: Sleep, Sing, Relax, Rock, Repeat.
Their first EP, Sol Del Sur, released in 2020, exists in limbo between being catchy, rock-y, original, and summer-y. Here, you might hear something familiar, as their song – Something That You’re Missing – from this album was featured in Outer Banks season two. Somehow, whether you’re listening in the dead of winter or with the sun glaring down on your face, Sun Room can bring the light to where you are.

Ritual of Chaos, their latest EP, released in July 2025, features one of their most popular singles – and the name of their tour – “Jackknife.” Through their vocals, instrumentals, and lyrics, their evolution is obvious, but miraculously, they’re still able to keep the original energy going from their previous EPs.
In 2026, their highly anticipated first album is dropping. If it’s anything like their prior records, not only will it maintain their fanbase, but continue to grow and expand it. With a whopping 416,400 monthly listeners on Spotify and almost 700,000 across all social media platforms, they are a clear example of what can happen when you put your heart and soul into something and are elevated by social media.
So, whether you’re discovering Sun Room now, heard them in the background of Netflix’s Outer Banks, or saw them supporting Louis Tomlinson on his world tour in 2022, it’s clear that they are on the rise and have every intention of growing into some of the biggest rock stars around.
Sun Room will be in Cambridge this Thursday, October 23, at The Sinclair Music Hall.
