Playlist: Sounds From The Hammock

As the early days of quarantine dragged on, I grew more restless being confined to the couches and beds of my house. I needed to break free. I needed to lay somewhere new. I needed a hammock. Something I could sink into and sway with the breeze. Listen to my neighbors yell at each other from, watch my cat kill a squirrel from, work to help dismantle systemic racism in our country from. I went online and found the cheapest one I could find and ordered it. After it arrived, and I struggled to assemble it for a half an hour because my brain cells have depleted over the last few months, I was instantly at peace. I rested my body on the thin nylon fabric and stared at the sky for a while to make it clear that I am, indeed, the main character. “This moment needs a playlist,” I exclaimed (I just thought it, actually, but we’re trying to maintain dramatic effect here). So, here is a playlist for your personal hammocking pleasure. Some of these songs are new favorites I’m listening to, as well as some tunes I’ve loved for a long time. I feel as if this playlist could be substituted for a good car ride, as well. One where you just need to think as you aimlessly drive around your hometown for the fourth time in a week. You know that drive, I don’t have to explain it to you. So, enjoy!
