Playlist: Curing the Summer Blues

For me, Summer 2022 has been a bit of a difficult one.

What makes it worse is seeing how “amazing” everyone else seems to be doing. Beach vacations with their boyfriend? Check. Amazing internship at their dream company? Check. Late nights with friends eating ice cream and taking adorable pictures? Check.

I’m afraid I am not having this kind of hot girl summer.

Don’t get me wrong — I’ve gotten to do a lot of cool things, like travel the Caribbean with my family. But for the most part, you’ll find me reading a fantasy book in my bedroom. Alone. And while books are lovely, it’s not the dreamy summer I envisioned.

Being back home in my little suburban town for so long isn’t the most ideal of situations, and so often I find myself missing my friends, the city, and freedom. The temporary cure until I can be back in fabulous Boston? Music.

I created this playlist for anyone who isn’t living out their picture-perfect paradise summer straight from a movie, needs a pick me up, or feels the urge to dive into their emotions. It houses a wide variety of genres and vibes to choose from, tailored to all types of handling major FOMO and frustration: whether that means listening to lachrymose melodies you can reflect on, vent-heavy pop rock, or R&B heartbreak classics mixed with new bangers, “Curing the Summer Blues” contains everything under the sun for you.

Only three weeks left until move-in, but really who is(n’t) counting?
