During a post-breakup watch of Love Actually with my mom at the end of the summer, I was oddly struck by the scene where Alan Rickman dances with his employee at the Christmas party. I think it was just that the song choice (“Turn Me On” by Norah Jones) was so perfect, and the ambience was so perfect, and even if Alan Rickman was kind of cheating on his wife in that scene, I think there was just something about the feeling of dancing with someone to a jazz song at a winter party that I longed for fresh out of a breakup.
Later that night, I was quick to make a playlist that captured the urge for love and the feeling somberness in colder times. Swaying in your kitchen during autumn-time while you're making dinner and a candle is lit. Dancing with somebody you barely know to a jazz song at a Christmas party. Catching the bus home after class and it's snowing and you're so close to Christmas break.

I hope you like this playlist as much as I do.
